Whether supporting the racing, outreach, or membership programs, there are many opportunities to help foster a vibrant sailing community in the City of Lakes at the Minneapolis Sailing Center (MSC).
Sailing Center
Outreach Program Captain/Instructor: MSC is expanding our outreach program to provide sailing opportunities to folks who otherwise may not get the chance. We need volunteers to captain our Ensigns during these outreach events and Free Sailing Sundays. Training will be provided. Click here to sign up to skipper an outreach event.
Boat Setup and Fleet Maintenance: MSC has over 100 boats in the fleet. We need help rigging and launching the boats in early April (420s) and early May (Ensigns). We also need help de-rigging and storing the boats in October. In the offseason, we need help maintaining the boats at our winter workshop.
Junior Instructor: Youth ages 14-15 volunteer for half the day during youth summer camps and attend Youth Racing 420 class the other half of the day free of charge.
Event Support: Support community-building events at MSC by setting up and breaking down the hosting space, food service, check-in, etc.
High School / Youth Racing Program
School Liaison: Be the point person for recruitment efforts and publicity at your child’s school.
Regatta Host Team: Support MSC when we host regattas at Bde Maka Ska. Includes coordinating other volunteers, setting up and breaking down the hosting space, obtaining and serving food, etc.
Regatta Carpool Driver: drives groups of sailors to and from local regattas from the sailing center assembly point at Bde Maka Ska.
